This time, we're making it a potluck! Bring your favorite chili recipe, a delicious side (think cornbread, coleslaw, or salad), or a dessert to share. Whether you're a chili-making pro or just love a good meal with friends, there's a place for you at the table!

This Week's Message "The Heart of A Servant" Steven Widger | John 13:1-20 What does it truly mean to serve, and are we willing to receive the love and grace Jesus offers? In John 13, we witness one of the most powerful examples of humility in Scripture. Knowing that the cross was drawing near, Jesus knelt before His disciples and washed their feet, taking on the role of the lowest servant. But this moment was about so much more than an act of service. It was a picture of the sacrificial love He was about to demonstrate on the cross. Peter's response reveals something we can all relate to. We often want to follow Jesus, but we also want to remain in control. We want His grace, but sometimes struggle to receive it on His terms rather than our own. This passage reminds us that following Jesus begins with humbly receiving what only He can give. His love isn't something we earn or control. It's something we are invited to receive with open hearts and surrendered lives. As we continue through the Gospel of John, we're reminded that Jesus didn't simply teach us what love looks like. He demonstrated it through humility, service, and ultimately, His sacrifice on the cross. This Week's Message "Barriers to Belief: Part 2" Jason Fischer | John 12:37-50 In John 12:37–50, Pastor Jason Fischer continues our study through the Gospel of John by exploring the internal barriers that can keep us from fully trusting and following Jesus. Despite witnessing His incredible signs and miracles, many still refused to believe. Others believed but were afraid to openly acknowledge Him. Why? Because sometimes our love for darkness, our desire for control, and our need for the approval of others can become greater than our desire to follow Jesus. This passage challenges us to honestly examine our hearts and consider what might be standing in the way of genuine faith. But it also reminds us of something incredibly hopeful: Jesus came into the world as light, not to condemn the world, but to save it. As we close out John 12, we're reminded that belief isn't simply about knowing more about Jesus. It's about receiving His Word, trusting Him, and allowing that faith to transform the way we live. Over two consecutive Tuesday evenings, you’ll learn more about what Heritage believes, what it means to be part of this church family, and how together we can live out our calling to be grounded in His love, growing as His disciples, and generous in His name. This Week's Message "Barriers to Belief: Part 1" Jason Fischer | John 12:27-36 What keeps us from fully believing in Jesus and trusting Him with our lives? In John 12:27–36, Jesus speaks openly about His approaching death, the purpose of His sacrifice, and the light He brings into a dark world. As the cross draws closer, Jesus challenges those listening to recognize who He truly is and respond in faith. This passage invites us to examine the barriers that can stand between us and a deeper relationship with Jesus. Whether it's doubt, confusion, fear, or our own expectations, we can sometimes struggle to trust what God is doing when it doesn't look the way we imagined. But Jesus reminds us that even in the face of suffering and uncertainty, God's purposes are still unfolding. The invitation is to walk in His light, trust His Word, and believe in the One who came to save us. We'd love to help you connect. This Week's Message "Keep It, Lost It" Jason Fischer | John 12:20-26 What does it really mean to follow Jesus with our whole lives? In John 12:20–26, Jesus shares a challenging truth about what it means to be His disciple. He tells us that the way to truly find life is not by holding tightly to it, but by surrendering it to Him. It sounds like a contradiction: If we try to keep our lives, we’ll lose them. But when we’re willing to let go and follow Jesus, we discover what real life is. Jesus doesn’t simply call us to believe in Him from a distance. He invites us to follow Him, serve Him, and trust Him with every part of our lives. And as we learn to loosen our grip on the things we’re tempted to protect, we discover the freedom of living fully surrendered to Him. We'd love to help you connect. This Week's Message "Receive Jesus for Who He Is" Blake Williams | John 12:12-19 What happens when the Jesus we want isn’t the Jesus we actually need? In John 12:12–19, Jesus enters Jerusalem to the cheers of a crowd waving palm branches and declaring Him King. They welcomed Him with excitement, but many had expectations about who Jesus was and what He had come to do. Jesus wasn’t simply coming to meet their expectations. He was coming as the promised King and Savior they truly needed. This passage invites us to examine how we receive Jesus in our own lives. Are we following Him for who He truly is, or are we trying to fit Him into our plans, preferences, and expectations? Jesus is worthy of more than our enthusiasm when life goes the way we hoped. He invites us to trust Him, follow Him, and receive Him as King. Church is more than gathering in the same room on Sunday—it’s sharing life with one another. And sometimes, meaningful relationships begin with something as simple as sitting around a table together. That’s the heart behind Dinner Parties. Over a couple of weekends, several people from Heritage will open their homes and host a small group for dinner. Simply register and choose your preferred date, and we’ll match you with one of our hosts and others from church for an evening together. Your host will then reach out with the location, time, and any other details you need to know. There’s no agenda or program—just an opportunity to share a meal, enjoy good conversation, meet people you may not know yet, and make Heritage feel a little smaller. Whether you’re newer to community here, have been around for years, or simply want to build more relationships within the church family, there’s a place for you at the table. House of Refuge Serve Day
Serving Those in Need Heritage has been partnering with House of Refuge Sunnyslope for years as they help individuals rebuilding their lives after incarceration, addiction, and unemployment. Their ministry goes beyond meeting immediate needs like food, shelter, and safety—they provide a Christ-centered community where residents develop practical life skills, experience meaningful relationships, and work toward lasting transformation. On October 10, Heritage will spend the morning serving at House of Refuge Sunnyslope through several maintenance projects, primarily painting and landscaping. It’s a practical opportunity to come alongside a ministry doing meaningful work in our city and help care for the place their residents call home. Sign up to serve on October 10 and spend the morning making a tangible difference alongside others from Heritage. There are also opportunities throughout the year for Small Groups to serve by preparing meals for House of Refuge residents. Come spend time moving through interactive prayer stations, praying through Scripture, and lifting up the needs of our church and people who need to know Jesus. This Week's Message "All In" Jason Fischer | John 12:1-11 What does it truly mean to go all in for Jesus? In John 12, we find Jesus at a dinner just days before the cross. In an extraordinary act of worship, Mary takes costly perfume worth nearly a year’s wages and pours it out on Jesus. She holds nothing back. Her extravagant devotion stands in sharp contrast to Judas, whose seemingly practical concerns reveal something very different happening in his heart. Their responses invite us to examine our own: Are we willing to surrender what is precious to us, or do we still want to follow Jesus while holding onto control? But before this passage asks us what we're willing to give Jesus, it points us toward what Jesus was willing to give for us. The cross was drawing near, and Jesus was about to demonstrate the ultimate act of sacrificial love. He held nothing back. When we understand that kind of love, wholehearted devotion isn't about earning something from Jesus. It's our response to the One who has already given everything for us. This Week's Message "Grounded in the Love of Jesus" Blake Williams What does it actually look like to grow as a disciple of Jesus? In this message, Pastor Blake walks through the second part of Heritage Church’s vision and explores how spiritual disciplines help shape us into the image of Christ. Rather than simply knowing more about Jesus, we are called to become more like Him. Through inward, outward, and corporate spiritual disciplines, we learn to intentionally create space for God to transform our hearts, our relationships, and the way we live.
