GATHER is an annual morning for the Women of Heritage to connect, share stories, and turn our attention together toward God. This year, our BEHOLD theme continues as we explore the Fatherhood of God and reflect on what it means to be known, cared for, and deeply loved by Him. Come enjoy a morning filled with fun, meaningful conversation, and connection—and bring a donation of diapers, wipes, clothing, hygiene items, or canned food to help bless women and families through Hope Women’s Center of Phoenix. Childcare will be provided!

What does it actually look like to grow as a disciple of Jesus?

In this message, Pastor Blake walks through the second part of Heritage Church’s vision and explores how spiritual disciplines help shape us into the image of Christ. Rather than simply knowing more about Jesus, we are called to become more like Him. Through inward, outward, and corporate spiritual disciplines, we learn to intentionally create space for God to transform our hearts, our relationships, and the way we live. Following Jesus is a lifelong journey of growth, and we don’t have to do it alone.

Day of Prayer
Prayer is a practice. Prayer is a command. Prayer is a gift. In the book of Acts, prayer is referred to in twenty of the twenty-eight chapters. It is central to who the first believers were. They fellowshipped around it. They fought for one another through it. They saw miracles and people freed from prisons because of their prayers. They watched their friends able to withstand torture and death because of the strength given through lives dedicated to prayer. We don’t totally get it. We think of prayer as secondary to action or as an excuse to not act but these passionate and purpose-filled believers saw it as their first action in service of God. And because of that belief, they did incredible things. They saw the Holy Spirit do incredible things. We want to see it as essential. We want to practice it like it we see it as essential. And we want to experience it as the gift it is. So on September 24th, from 6am to 6pm, we will devote ourselves to prayer. This will be the a similar experience to the 24 Hours of Prayer we hosted back in the spring. We will have stations where you can pray through scripture, paint scripture, and pray over specific requests from people in our church and the people in your life who need to know Jesus. This isn’t sitting in a chair for an hour trying to work yourself up to say the right things or keep your mind stayed on the right things. This will feel so easy that you will be there for an hour and want to stay for twelve. We will end the day with worship together because God deserves our all out praise!

All Church Lunch on 9/13!
Stick around after service on Sunday, September 13 for All Church Lunch—a relaxed afternoon with free hamburgers and hot dogs, plenty of good food, and space to connect with friends or meet someone new at Heritage. That morning, we’ll also be celebrating the fall launch of Small Groups and the opportunity to grow deeper in relationship with Jesus and one another. It’s a simple picture of what it means to be grounded, growing, and generous together—sharing life, food, and community as a church family. Lunch is on us! But help make the table even better by bringing a favorite tailgate-style side or snack to share, like chips and dip, wings, taquitos, little smokies, nachos, kabobs, or whatever you love to bring to the party. No registration needed—just bring something to share and plan to stick around!

Because of what Jesus has done, we can walk confidently in the good works He has prepared for us—living with humility, unity, and love as His Church displays the wisdom and grace of God to the world. We are collecting gently used adult clothing and blankets to help meet these needs. Donations can be dropped off at the church through Friday, August 28th. Thank you for partnering with us as we serve our neighbors in need! This conflicts with our own pride so it is important for us to understand how pride shows up in our own lives in order to submit to God’s sovereign and gracious rule. Here's what our community is lifting up this week: Cancer Diagnosis: Daniel Lichtenberger’s sister-in-law was recently diagnosed with breast cancer which will require surgical intervention. Please pray for healing, finances, minimal growth/impact of the cancer, and comfort through this difficult season. Pray for her husband to get the job God would have for him to provide for their needs. Clark Family: The Clark’s son Josh had an accident and suffered broken sinuses and a small brain bleed. He went through surgery ok but pray for quick healing and no complications to arise and the presence of the Lord to be with the family as they recover. Submit your own prayer request here.
