Dinner Parties
Church is more than gathering in the same room on Sunday—it’s sharing life with one another. And sometimes, meaningful relationships begin with something as simple as sitting around a table together. That’s the heart behind Dinner Parties. Over a couple of weekends, several people from Heritage will open their homes and host a small group for dinner. Simply register and choose your preferred date, and we’ll match you with one of our hosts and others from church for an evening together. Your host will then reach out with the location, time, and any other details you need to know. There’s no agenda or program—just an opportunity to share a meal, enjoy good conversation, meet people you may not know yet, and make Heritage feel a little smaller. Whether you’re newer to community here, have been around for years, or simply want to build more relationships within the church family, there’s a place for you at the table. House of Refuge Serve Day
Serving Those in Need Heritage has been partnering with House of Refuge Sunnyslope for years as they help individuals rebuilding their lives after incarceration, addiction, and unemployment. Their ministry goes beyond meeting immediate needs like food, shelter, and safety—they provide a Christ-centered community where residents develop practical life skills, experience meaningful relationships, and work toward lasting transformation. On October 10, Heritage will spend the morning serving at House of Refuge Sunnyslope through several maintenance projects, primarily painting and landscaping. It’s a practical opportunity to come alongside a ministry doing meaningful work in our city and help care for the place their residents call home. Sign up to serve on October 10 and spend the morning making a tangible difference alongside others from Heritage. There are also opportunities throughout the year for Small Groups to serve by preparing meals for House of Refuge residents. Day of Prayer
Prayer is a practice. Prayer is a command. Prayer is a gift. In the book of Acts, prayer is referred to in twenty of the twenty-eight chapters. It is central to who the first believers were. They fellowshipped around it. They fought for one another through it. They saw miracles and people freed from prisons because of their prayers. They watched their friends able to withstand torture and death because of the strength given through lives dedicated to prayer. We don’t totally get it. We think of prayer as secondary to action or as an excuse to not act but these passionate and purpose-filled believers saw it as their first action in service of God. And because of that belief, they did incredible things. They saw the Holy Spirit do incredible things. We want to see it as essential. We want to practice it like it we see it as essential. And we want to experience it as the gift it is. So on September 24th, from 6am to 6pm, we will devote ourselves to prayer. This will be the a similar experience to the 24 Hours of Prayer we hosted back in the spring. We will have stations where you can pray through scripture, paint scripture, and pray over specific requests from people in our church and the people in your life who need to know Jesus. This isn’t sitting in a chair for an hour trying to work yourself up to say the right things or keep your mind stayed on the right things. This will feel so easy that you will be there for an hour and want to stay for twelve. We will end the day with worship together because God deserves our all out praise!

Jason Fischer | John 12:1-11 What does it truly mean to go all in for Jesus?
In John 12, we find Jesus at a dinner just days before the cross. In an extraordinary act of worship, Mary takes costly perfume worth nearly a year’s wages and pours it out on Jesus. She holds nothing back.
Her extravagant devotion stands in sharp contrast to Judas, whose seemingly practical concerns reveal something very different happening in his heart. Their responses invite us to examine our own: Are we willing to surrender what is precious to us, or do we still want to follow Jesus while holding onto control?
But before this passage asks us what we're willing to give Jesus, it points us toward what Jesus was willing to give for us. The cross was drawing near, and Jesus was about to demonstrate the ultimate act of sacrificial love. He held nothing back.
When we understand that kind of love, wholehearted devotion isn't about earning something from Jesus. It's our response to the One who has already given everything for us. Generosity is about more than what we give. It’s a way of life that reflects the grace, love, and abundance of Jesus to the people around us.
As we close this series, we’re reminded of the kind of church we want to be: grounded in the love of Jesus, growing as disciples of Jesus, and generous in the name of Jesus. YOUTH Worship Night
We’re excited to invite all of our students to a special Youth Prayer & Worship Night on September 20 at 5 PM at Heritage Church! This evening will be a chance for our students to step away from the busyness of life, worship Jesus together, and intentionally seek Him through prayer. A big part of our night will be praying for and with one another. We want to create space for students to share what is going on in their lives, encourage one another, and lift each other up before the Lord. We believe there is something powerful about students learning not only how to pray, but also how to pray for their friends and carry one another’s burdens. Through worship, Scripture, and prayer, our hope is that students will grow closer to Jesus and to one another. This is an opportunity to remind our students that they don’t have to walk through life alone. We are a community that follows Jesus together, celebrates together, and brings our needs and struggles before Him together. And, of course, we’ll finish the night with Wings & Worship! After our time together, students will get to hang out, eat some wings, and enjoy time together as a youth community. Grab a friend and join us September 20 at 5 PM for a night of prayer, worship, community, and wings. We can’t wait to see you there!
